Performance & Technology
Speed benchmarks, Core Web Vitals, and technology assessment for Betta
Mobile PageSpeed Score
Lab scores are low across the whole category, and Betta's mobile 40 is the best of the four. The weak spot is main-thread blocking, not load speed: real-user field data is in the fast range.
Competitive Comparison
Benchmarked against 3 leading Home & Living stores in your market
| Store | Mobile Score | Desktop Score | Mobile LCP | Mobile CLS | Mobile TBT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Betta (Client) | 40 | 63 | 5.9s | 0.1126 | 1,550ms |
| Aiper | 30 | 44 | 19.7s | 0.0001 | 3,532ms |
| Beatbot | 32 | 58 | 31.0s | 0.0002 | 1,333ms |
| WYBOT | 36 | 68 | 13.8s | 0 | 1,342ms |
⚠ Note: Aiper, Beatbot, WYBOT score lower than Betta on mobile PageSpeed. This reflects the Home & Living category average — even established brands in this space struggle with mobile performance. The opportunity is to leapfrog the category, not just match it.
Core Web Vitals — Google's UX Quality Signals
Sites failing Core Web Vitals may rank lower in Google mobile search results
LCP How fast content appears
FCP First visual response
TBT Main thread blocking
CLS Visual stability
INP Tap/click responsiveness
What This Means for Revenue
Betta scores 40 on mobile Lighthouse, ahead of Aiper (30), Beatbot (32) and WYBOT (36). Real Chrome users see fast load (field LCP ~1.1s, INP 87ms). The lab gap is driven by 1,550ms of total blocking time from third-party scripts, so trimming scripts is the lever.

- Guest checkout: Available via native Shopify checkout

- Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Amazon Pay, Shop Pay
Technology Assessment
Betta runs on Shopify with the Focal theme, native Shopify checkout and Shop Pay, Shop Pay Installments and Affirm financing. The foundation is sound; the gaps are on page-level UX (sticky add to cart, delivery estimate, cart discount field) rather than platform choices.
UX & Conversion Findings
Page-by-page analysis with visual comparisons against top Home & Living stores
- The homepage model section shows each skimmer as a large banner with only a 'Shop' button.
- No model card shows a price, sale badge, star rating or an add-to-cart action, so shoppers must open every product page to learn what a model costs.
- Prices and ratings already exist on the collection and product pages, so the information is simply not surfaced where shoppers first land.
- Add a compact price, sale badge and star-rating strip under each model so the range can be compared at a glance.
- Add a secondary 'Add to cart' button beside 'Shop' on each model card that opens the mini-cart.
- None of the three benchmarked pool-robot brands does this on its homepage yet, so it is a chance to stand out.
- Under the product count on mobile there is no visible filter button, price range or sort control.
- Skimmers, a handheld vacuum, replacement parts and warranty plans are mixed in one long list, so a buyer comparing models must scroll past accessories.
- Long unfiltered lists on mobile push shoppers to leave before they reach the model they want.
- Add a 'Filter & Sort' bar under the product count with a price range, a product-type filter and a sort menu.
- Default the product-type filter to skimmers so new visitors see the main range first.
- Benchmarked brand WYBOT offers a Refine By drawer with a price range slider on its collection page.
- The product page is very long on mobile and the only add-to-cart button sits at the top of the buy box.
- After shoppers scroll past the buy box to the trust strip, video and comparison table, no fixed bar or button appears and they must scroll back up to buy.
- The long reviews and model comparison make the return trip even longer.
- Add a fixed bottom bar with the product name, price and an 'Add to cart' button that appears once the main button leaves the screen.
- Include the existing Shop Pay installment line in the bar to reinforce affordability at the decision point.
- Benchmarked brand Aiper shows a sticky bar with 'Add to cart' and 'Buy Now' as shoppers scroll its product page.
- Below the selector, quantity and add-to-cart buttons there is no ZIP field, ship-by date or delivery window.
- The only shipping signals are the announcement bar and an icon strip far down the page.
- A seasonal, high-ticket product is bought with a pool-opening date in mind, and delivery timing is the unanswered question.
- Add an 'Estimated delivery' line with an optional ZIP input directly under the buy buttons showing an arrival date range.
- Pair it with a 'Ships free in the US' tag to reinforce the offer.
- Benchmarked brand Aiper shows an 'Estimated Delivery Date' range right beside its add-to-cart button.
- Scrolling to the bottom of the product page, the reviews end directly in the footer.
- There is no related-products, accessory or warranty-plan row, even though the cart already recommends accessories and care plans.
- Shoppers not ready to buy this model have no on-page path to the other models or to the warranty plan.
- Add a recommendation row after the reviews with the other skimmer models, a replacement basket and the care plan.
- Reuse the existing cart recommendation source so no new merchandising work is needed.
- None of the three benchmarked pool-robot brands shows a true related-products grid on its product page yet, so it is a chance to stand out.
- The buy box has no shipping, returns or warranty message next to the add-to-cart button.
- The home trial, free shipping, installments and warranty strip exists, but sits below the long description, the manual button and the app badges.
- On mobile it is far below the buy button, so most shoppers decide before they ever see it.
- Add a one-line reassurance row directly under the buy buttons covering the home trial, free US shipping and warranty.
- Keep the full icon strip lower on the page as supporting detail.
- Benchmarked brand Aiper places a 'Shop with confidence' strip with free delivery, free returns and warranty right under its add-to-cart button.
- With items in the cart, the summary shows only the total, a shipping note, an order-note link, the order protection toggle and Checkout.
- There is no discount or gift-code field anywhere in the cart.
- The store runs visible sales and has email and SMS tools installed, so promo codes are likely in circulation.
- Add a collapsed 'Discount code' input with an Apply button above Checkout, and show the applied discount as a line in the summary.
- Show auto-applied discounts in the same summary line.
- Benchmarked brands Beatbot and WYBOT both show a coupon field on the cart page.
- The product line shows a struck-through original price, but the order summary contains only the total and a shipping note.
- No aggregate savings line reinforces the discount at the moment of checkout.
- The shopper sees one number, the total, with no confirmation they are getting a deal.
- Add a 'Total savings' line in green above the total that sums item-level markdowns.
- Add a 'Free shipping' line so the summary reads savings, shipping, total.
- None of the three benchmarked pool-robot brands shows a savings line in its cart yet, so it is a chance to stand out.

App Stack Assessment
Betta has reviews, email and SMS, cross-sell and financing in place. Rebuy is wired into the cart but not the PDP, and conversion utilities such as sticky add to cart, a delivery estimate and a discount field are the missing layer.
